Mr. & Mrs. Emerson

The Emerson house is a cottage style built in 1939.  When the Emerson's bought the house they lived in it for a few years to get a good feel for the home. Thinking about what to do about renovating and yet keep the character and charm of the house, they teamed up with Varney Constuction, Inc. Working as a team they came up with an excellent plan to combine the old with the new.

Once work was started, “Simon,” the Emerson's 5-year old Miniature Schnauzer, was the self-appointed foreman of the job. Simon greeted the crew and oversaw all the work that was being done meticulously.

Kevin and crew worked to seamlessly combine the existing house with new construction.  This meant taking into consideration the most economical and practical way to preserve Mr. and Mrs. Emerson's envisioned "at home feel."

Now the Emerson's have a great new space including sitting room, mud room, office, master closet, new access point for basement, and bathroom.

Mr. and Mrs. Emerson would like to thank Kevin and crew for "Building their Dream into a Reality."

It was truly a pleasure working with Frank, Frances, and Simon.

Ms. Hilton

After being in the same home for 41 years, Ms. Hilton was ready for a change. She fell in love with a cozy little home in town, but came to us with a laundry list of projects that would make her new home even better. We worked with her to remodel the kitchen and bathroom, as well as to put on a new roof, install rails around the front porch, and fix some issues on the back porch.

In her words:

“Everybody that Kevin sent over was very respectful and polite. Very professional. And they all loved my cat,” she recalled with a smile. “That goes a long way.” “Roy [the job foreman] was just like family. I was very comfortable with all of them.”

Mrs. Crockett

With her husband suffering from knee and back problems, Mrs Crockett decided it was time to remodel their downstairs bathroom into something more accessible and usable. She enlisted our help after trying in vain to work with two other contractors. Having heard about us from a friend and through positive reports around town, she felt confident that we could provide a finished product that she could be proud of.

In her words:

“Kevin was great to work with. He sat down with me for an hour. Listened to all my suggestions.” “[The workers] were kind, considerate. They worked long hard hours and always cleaned up their mess.”

Favorite part of the remodel:

“There is lots of cabinet space, but it doesn't make the room feel small.”

Linda and Rollie Nye

We have had Varney Construction to complete two home projects for us over the last three years – a mainfloor bathroom renovation and a sidewalk/stoop and lighting project. The construction crew and contractors were very professional and the quality of workmanship was outstanding. Kevin talked with us and got to know us (our likes and dislikes) then worked with our ideas and made suggestions to design both projects so that they work for us and our lifestyle. I had lots of questions along the way on both projects and they were all answered to my satisfaction. We got to know the crew and they became like extended family, yet they always maintained a high level of professionalism  and were always focused on quality job performance. At the end of each work day tools and equipment were always left very neat and tidy. We couldn’t be more satisfied with the outcome on both projects and will enjoy our bathroom and outdoor project for years to come.

Dear Kevin and Crew:

Just a note to let you know how much we are enjoying our new beautiful new kitchen and nice sturdy porch. Your work is outstanding- such a difference in the detail work. Never met such nice and professional folks to work with. The electrical problem your guys discovered may well have saved our lives. Can't thank you enough! We consider you all friends. Thanks so much for everything.

My mother has lived with us for about 13 years after having a stroke. Realizing her needs were changing as she’s getting older, we decided to look at options to help her and ourselves later on. Her bathroom was small and needed a larger shower with seat. This meant taking up more space in her room. We decided to enlarge the bathroom and add an additional 5 feet to her room. There was no question when we were choosing a contractor. Kevin Varney and his crew had done a beautiful paver patio in our back yard, and we knew they would be right for the job. This job, as with the patio, was beyond our expectations.  Kevin and his crew are a very special group. They are professional, kind and 100% trustworthy.  The job was perfect for us. We would ABSOLUTELY hire them again!
